Australian institute of physics
The Australian Institute of Physics (AIP), the national body representing physicists in academia, government, and industry, required a refreshed visual identity to better reflect its professionalism and modern relevance.
The previous logo no longer aligned with the organisation’s digital presence or communication needs. The objective was to redesign the AIP logo and identity system to convey clarity, authority, and contemporary relevance, while maintaining a respectful connection to its academic and scientific legacy. The resulting identity features a bold, simplified typographic mark within an angular, abstract form reminiscent of atomic motion and structure. The geometric black field creates a strong silhouette, while the modern sans-serif letterforms — set in lowercase for accessibility and approachability — reinforce the institute’s progressive vision. The visual system is designed for versatility across web, print, event branding, and official government correspondence.
